The Order was formed with a singular goal in mind – to protect the world from evil spirits. The evil spirits (not to be confused with demons) are the souls of people who lost their lives in a drastically tragic manner and have gone insane due to their overwhelming grief. They can only possess the body of someone with a feeble state of mind or someone who walks a thin line between life and death. Once the evil spirit gains control, it becomes extremely violent, prompting exorcists to intervene and remove the intruder.

There is one sure way to get rid of those creatures – by stabbing them with an exorcist’s knife, a weapon crafted by sorcerers. The knives are issued to each member of the Order

 and, in some cases, to people hired to help with a certain case.

There are exorcists all over the world who practice various religions according to their region. They are obliged to say a prayer in hope for the lost soul to find its way when they perform an exorcism. The vast majority aren’t aware of the existence of the old gods despite their close work with sorcerers, and sorcerers do try to keep it that way.
