The Sorcerers live in a world separated from our own, with only a few exceptions who decided to spend their time among humans. Due to the differences in lifestyle and community, the scientific progression has largely remained in the 18th century. They worship a god named Edmon, their ancient predecessor.
A small number of the population are actually humans, who were either working as servants for a family of sorcerers before the great schism or were born in sorcerer families with one human parent. They are usually seen as lesser than and don’t possess the same rights as magicians. Sorcerers that are born without magic abilities are also treated with little respect, the sole proof they had of being Edmon’s kin being the mana-producing tumor in their brain, which, in their case, only served to produce headaches.

The magisian’s fashion choice varies, though it’s not much different than the humans in that certain time period. There are a few exceptions, however, the most prominent being their headpiece – either an almost translucent piece of fabric or glasses that hide the user’s eyes. They wear it to avoid curses and spells that can have a negative effect on the one they are cast upon. Another trait you would notice is their loose clothing, which is mainly worn by terpsimancers, who require a maximum amount of mobility to practice their magic. Other details worthy of mention are the many hidden pockets in their attire they use to store potions, the kidney pouches often used by glyph sorcerers, and the pendants they wear around their necks, which bear the mark of Edmon.
Some trades have been lost over the years, either by being banned or forgotten. It’s important to mention that sorcerers born with an affinity for a type of magic aren’t unable to use others. In fact, the academy teaches all types in their different variations, though students are encouraged to excel in one or two due to the complexity of the craft.
Here is a short list of the most common trades.
They practice all spells related to fire, ignition, combustion, and so on. It’s one of the most regulated types of magic, the users of which are prohibited from using it on other sorcerers.
Magicians who cast their spells through a gesture or a dance.
They revive the dead. Magicians born with an affinity for necromancy can see ghosts. Their practice is forbidden to be used on sorcerers and humans in the magic world for ethical reasons.
The most common type of magic. They cast spells either by incantation or by writing a glyph on a piece of paper or their own skin using a special type of ink.
They can cure all illnesses, mend broken bones, and close wounds. They are the equivalent of doctors in the magic world. Many necromancers opt into the practice of healing magic instead due to the fact that it overlaps with their study of anatomy.
They can enchant objects that can be used by humans and sorcerers alike. It’s the craftsmen who made the runic weapons for the hunters and the exorcist’s knives.
Nearly extinct. They can move time forward, backward, freeze time, age objects, and living things.
Very few are born with the affinity to become skilled enough to craft new spells. They are the equivalent of our world’s most brilliant scientists.
